Looking Back for the Last Time (We Thought) toward Kilronan and Inishmore from Galway Bay, August, 2006
We're going back. Not next year, but the year after. Back to Galway Bay, back to the Bothy, back to Dublin, back to Birr. We're so giddy, we could just, well, expectorate, I suppose. Aside from the possibility of a global economic meltdown (even which may not be enough to prevent the trip), our only worry right now is caretaking of Ft. Harrington.
Giddy, we are. Big-time.

Oh Hooray!
I completely understand the joy of planning "going back".
And of the 5 or 6 or 700 conversations you'll have while planning "going back".
Enjoy. Planning is half the fun. And I look forward to more of your excellent photography in 2010.
ronnie
Oh, we thought of you right away, ronnie, as someone who has gone back to her charmed island. And, of course, you're right about the value of the anticipatory conversations, which have started big-time. And a lot of those conversations have to do with beyond 2010, too.
I'm reminded of a time, forty years ago, when the manager of the apartment building I lived in left this note on his door: "Tenants: I have moved to the Canary Islands. In case of problems, cope." He meant it.
The key to the Ft. Harrington residence is under the doormat to the potting shed. Feed Oolie first. ;-)
If you don't have a suitcase roomy enough to hold a couple samiches, a sixer of O'doul's, and your son.....I suppose I could watch over the critters for a portion of your time away.
Adam-
Thank you, Adam... and I'm planning on talking to you about both parts of that when I see you next.
When you spoke of ronnie going back to her charmed island, my first thought was not of Cuba but of Newfoundland (from which you can see Ireland, which is why she knows so much about foreign policy).
Glad you're headed back. Yes, mostly for the photo tour that will follow!
