My 10th-great grandfather, Sir John Harrington, inventor of the flush toilet, was a godson of Queen Elizabeth I. Banished repeatedly from the Court for various indescretions (including distribution of pornography and scatological mockery), Sir John is best remembered for his bon mot about treason and its lack of opprobrium if successful: "Treason doth never prosper, what's the reason? For if treason prospers, none dare call it treason."
